Rotary Club of Pune Kalyani Nagar’s most ambitious Green Ganesh project along with Rotract Club of Kalyani Nagar and Rotract club of Symbiosis has become a mega success. Through this project we tried to do our bits to save our environment and our rivers. The focus was on to create awareness and divert Nirmalaya away from the river. Also, urge the devotees to immerse Bappa in the artificial tanks made by PMC. Few success stories of this very ambitious project: 1. Organized oath session in Nagarwala School as a part of the awareness campaign on 14th September. The oath was taken at both the day school and at their boarding facilities. Students and the authorities welcomed the “Rotary Club of Kalyani Nagarâ€. 2. Several “Flash mobs†were organised to create awareness in Pune Central@ Bund Garden Road on 21st September (3rd Day of Ganpati Festival) and then in the Phoenix Market City Mall @ Nagar Road on 22nd September (4th Day of Ganpati Festival). This flash mob was presented by Rotaract Club of Symbiosis. The atmosphere was different and about 50+ students of Symbiosis charged the energies in the malls with their dancing. It was accompanied by the distribution of the hand-made bookmarks by the creative team in Symbiosis College raising awareness with the shoppers present. 3. Furthermore, Rotary Club and Rotaract Club volunteers stood on the chosen YERWADA Ghat from 4:30 -9:30 PM on 23rd September & 25th September and requested citizens to divert the nirmalaya away from the river and immerse the Ganpati in man-made tanks constructed specially for the Visarjans. The positive energy was flowing from all directions with chants of ‘Ganpati Bappa Moryaâ€; “Ganpati gele gava-la; chain pade na amaalaâ€. Every single soul on the ghat was wearing a smile and a feeling of contentment as they were bidding good-bye to their favorite lord. 4. Around 900+ families acknowledged our efforts by diverting Ganesh idol and nirmalya away from river. 5. All these events combined, this is one of the biggest PR exercise for our club with loads of people coming inquisitively for Rotary and leaving us with the blessings from Bappa and them for working on this noble cause. 6. We also helped the traffic cops in administering the parking at Yerwada Ghat.
